We've switched to a different type of mutex, but there's no new build avaialble yet. I'm not sure (we can't easily reproduce the issue here, because we don't have a system with older OS X versions anymore) but I'm hoping that this will fix the issue. On the latest OS X the new version is stable - but the old one was stable as well.Īs a side note, it's really annoying how every OS X version appears to change things. Stereo Tool 1.12 from 2004 which ran on Windows 95 still runs without any issues on Windows 10, and the latest builds even still run on XP. In 15 years, we've only once had an issue with a crash due to a Windows update (when Vista came out, a bug in the Stereo Tool code suddenly triggered a crash during startup). But on Mac, every update appears to create - (or in this case, fix) - issues. Note that if the mutex issue that I mentioned is the cause of these crashes, there was a good reason for crashing. I never actually used the program because I was mostly a club DJ - and TRAKTOR worked awesome for that.īut it's still hard to develop stable software if it behaves differently on each OS version.I was having so much trouble getting the automix to work like is SHOULD work that I just went and purchased an upgrade to my megaseg that I had originally purchased 8 years ago. Getting back into the mobile thing I have really wanted a great software program that automixes, just with fades and such for cocktail and dinner. Megaseg is awesome for this if you have a mac. I think that VDJ will be a great addition to my software collection once the final version for Mac comes out. I just need to get a skin that works on my macbook pro in full screen, and that will make things better right there. There are definitely perks to VDJ over Traktor, they are different programs overall, so of course. I love the sound effects/sampler bank - it's awesome to have. Love some of the effects to that you can have at the push of a button - like spin back, awesome stuff. I also look forward to doing some stuff with videos.Īnyway - I know that the full purchase price of Megaseg is alot - like $250 I think, but it may be a worthwhile investment for folks that are in the same position as me. I can tell that I will be using Megaseg for a long time for my cocktail and dinner playlists. I will soon have 2 macbook pro's - so I will use Megaseg on one of them, and then VDJ or Traktor on the other. Special note from Peter Merry: Make sure to put a piece of tape of the battery door, so the batteries don’t fall out mid performance…sounds like experience talking. It would be nice if someone could comment more on the automix deal. The KeySpan remote allows me to start, stop, segue and mute my list with the push of a button. I have now been using my new toy for several weeks and couldn’t be happier! I can now line up all my music cues and sound bites in my MegaSeg playlist, and yes you can have as many songs as you need…there is no limit….and step out from behind the booth and connect with my audience. Two weeks later, it was available to everyone. This amazing little remote didn’t need line of sight, and has a 100 foot range! I asked Jason if he could make the KeySpan play nice with MegaSeg? He said yes, and 3 days later I had a solution. My business partner, Peter Merry, has been using the KeySpan Remote Control for years to run Keynote for his speaking engagements. Finally, after giving up on the remote control idea for years, I decided to ask MegaSeg DJ Software creator and designer, Jason Cox, to help me. I also tried the Apple Remote, but it was only effective within line of sight. It worked OK, but did not have replaceable batteries and didn’t interface very well, and was hard to handle because it was an awkward size. I’ve been trying to find a remote control that wouldn’t let me down for years! I tried “The Remote Wonder”, but it was the size of an “old school” TV remote and had way too many buttons. Third: Use a Radio Frequency Remote Control I have been an extremely satisfied customer for over 10 years! More importantly for me, it was also very user friendly and had a minimal learning curve. At the time it was the only DJ software available for Apple Computers. I have been using MegaSeg DJ Software since 2003. I am a devoted Apple user and have been since 1994. What to do? I now have an excellent suggestion! Sometimes that trusty assistant isn’t available. I’ve often been asked if I work with an assistant at my weddings, especially given the complex Grand Entrances I perform, and the answer is yes! I love to work with an assistant at my weddings, but sometimes that isn’t as easy as it seems.
